American Library of Poetry

Poems are judged based on originality, creativity, and artistic quality. Poems not meeting the requirement for line limitations are automatically disqualified. The American Library of Poetry offers an on-going poetry contest. Any type of poem is welcome - must be appropriate. Participants may submit no more than one poem every six months.

  • Eligibility: Grades 10 - 12
  • Length: No more than 20 line
  • Entries must include in the upper right-hand corner:
    • Student's name
    • Mailing address (including City, State, and Zip)
    • Grade level
    • Name of school
    • Participants must sign a Statement of Originality
  • Awards:
    • U. S. Savings Bond
    • Certificate of Achievement
    • One Grand Prize winner will receive a $500 U. S. Savings Bond
