WC: LSSU High School Short Story Prize

Lake High School Short Story Prize

  • Challenge:  Submit an original, unpublished realistic fiction story.  For the purposes of this contest, this will mean fiction that takes place in the real world. They are looking for stories written in a compelling voice with a well-developed story, character depth, a detailed setting, attention to language, and a deeper meaning.
  • Length:  No longer than 5,000 words
  • Do not put your name on the entry.  Stories are read blind.  Visit the Writing Center for entry information.
  • Awards:
    • First place:  Publication in Border Crossing and $500 cash that can be converted into a $1,000 scholarship if the winnder chooses to attend LSSU.
    • Second place: $250 cash prize
    • Third place:  $100 cash prize
