Writing Center

The Writing Center at Kalispell Middle School is a happening place when it comes to technology! The lab houses 62 iMacs and is open from 7:30-3:30 for student use. All KMS students have School District Google accounts allowing them to access their school work from any computer with internet access.

The lab provides a place for classes to do a variety of work. In most cases these projects go beyond just keyboarding. There is software that allows students the opportunity to explore many different subjects. For some students, this type of interaction is just what is needed for a better understanding of the subject. Learning with technology is very hands-on and enables students to learn visually.

Students are introduced to the Internet in a way that allows them to safely access information. School District #5 has an Internet filter in place. Our students also use our Student Resource Page that has a collection of links that are very useful. Links are added when classes are researching a specific topic and students are directed to these safe sites for their research.

The use of computers not only enhances education, but also increases motivation and, as you can see, the Writing Center offers a great opportunity for students to engage in learning using the latest technology.
