Coronavirus Information/Updates

Coronavirus Communications

Dear Hedges Families,

I wanted to update you regarding the district's plan as it relates to the Coronavirus/COVID 19.

First, there have been some rumors and even messages sent out that are not true.  All communication regarding the Coronavirus and the district's measures will be communicated from Mr. Flatau or myself, the building principal.  You will hear directly from us on any school or education matters. We need to support one another during this time and appreciate your flexibility and patience.

In light of all the changes going on in our community regarding COVID 19, we are doing our best to take care of our students and families. We know that we have to work together in these changing times and we are committed to do our very best to support you and your children.  In the next day or two we will be creating some guidelines that you are welcome to follow in order to provide some structure to our students and provide resources for both you and them. There is currently no requirement that you complete and turn in assignments, but we would like to provide opportunities for students to practice skills and stay engaged in learning.  Please look for these resources to arrive via email as well as being posted on our school websites. In the days to come, and as we learn more, we will continue to give you resources and update you at every turn.

If there is a desire or need to come to the building to pick up supplies or personal needs, please call the office at 751-4090 to make arrangements to come see us. You may email Laura Hargrave our office manager hargravel@sd5.k12.mt.us or Principal Brent Benkelman benkelmanb@sd5.k12.mt.us.  We will have limited hours and it will only be for emergency items and needs.

Please also remember that we have 55 staff members and 330 families calling and emailing us, along with the health department, office of public instruction, Montana School Board Association, and more.  So we appreciate your patience and understanding as it takes time to decipher the rapidly changing information as we get back to you with the best answers we can.  This is certainly a trying time for all of us and we are sympathetic to the angst and unknowns related to this health concern.  We will endeavor to do our best to keep you informed and make the best decisions with the information and recommendations of professionals for our students and families.

I will keep you updated if anything changes.
