Pandemic 2020-21 School Opening Information
The School District and the Board of Trustees have approved a reopening plan for the start of the school year with different operational phases for instruction. At this time, the district has made the decision to open in Phase ll.
Offering high quality, in person instruction within our school communities is what we would hope to see this fall, yet the safety of students and staff is a high priority and guiding decision making as the school year approaches. We will try to keep you as informed as possible in the coming weeks as we receive new information and guidance regarding potential changes in phases.
This document is designed to assist in planning for the safe operation of schools in Kalispell Public Schools for the 2020-2021 school year. We recognize the importance of returning students to school campuses for in-person instruction, as well as the overarching need to protect the health and safety of our students, school staff, and broader community. The goal of this document is to help schools plan for and implement measures to reduce COVID-19 transmission in the school setting, while meeting the educational needs of all students. This document is intended to be applicable to all K-12 schools within our district.
As we continue to deliver educational services to our students, we will provide opportunities for those who choose to learn remotely. From our experience last spring and hearing the input from families and staff members, it was important to build a structure of expectations for this platform. The deadline for parents to register for remote learning is Friday, August 7. Our goal is to formalize a remote instruction cadre of teachers by Friday, August 14. There will be more information on this aspect of our planning in the near future. Note: Remote instruction will start on Tuesday, September 8.
