Kindergarten and Early Kindergarten Enrollment
for 2021-22 school year is closed until April 1st, 2021
Your child must be 5 years old on or before September 10, 2022 to enroll in Kindergarten.
Kalispell Public Schools continues to improve opportunities for our students, we are introduced an Early Kindergarten Model during the 2020-2021 school year. This model is intended to give younger students who may not be ready for the rigors of an all-day academic approach and option for an all-day setting that will provide Kindergarten instruction from a more play based model. The Early Kindergarten year will help get them more prepared for the expectations of a full day academic approach in Kindergarten the following year.
In order to appropriately place students to received developmentally appropriate instruction, ALL Kindergarten aged students whose birthday falls on or after May 1st will go through a screening process. The screening will help district personnel and classroom teachers to make the appropriate recommendations to families for Kindergarten placement. Because of age, all students born before May 1st will automatically qualify for the regular educational setting in Kindergarten.
All placements will be made in collaboration with the parents of our students. This year's screening date is TBA. Information from your schools will be sent to those needing to be screened as a later date.
Important Note on Elementary Enrollment:
KPS tries to place all students in their neighborhood zoned elementary school. However, our schools do fill up fast. Please enroll your student as soon as possible. Students enrolled before June 1st will have prioritization to get into their school.
