Covid-19 Response and Updates

District-Wide Covid Response Plan

As we prepare to begin another successful school year, we are hopeful that there will be a return to what we have grown to appreciate from a traditional school experience.  KPS is committed to full-time, in-person instruction, activity participation and parent engagement in our schools.  We look forward to focusing on what we do best, supporting the growth and success of our students.

We are sincerely asking our school community to come together with respect, consideration for others and a shared sense of personal responsibility to help us keep our schools healthy and open this year.

Keeping our staff, students, and community safe and healthy still remains a top priority for the 2021/2022 school year. We continue to thoughtfully consider decisions regarding COVID-19.  Much like last year, arriving at an approach that prioritizes safety while also providing the highest quality educational experience is an extremely challenging and sensitive process with many considerations.  In collaboration with our Covid Advisory Council (COVID Advisory Council Letter) we are monitoring our county data closely and continually discussing the developing guidance and recommendations that we receive from federal, state and local health authorities.

At the June 10, KPS Board meeting the Board of Trustees voted to transition from Phase II to Phase III of the District’s COVID-19 Operational Phases.

Currently, the KPS Board of Trustees supports remaining in Phase III status, applicable to all school and extracurricular activities.

The district’s plans are subject to change based on the evolving situation regarding COVID-19. We will try to keep you as informed as possible in the coming weeks as we receive new information and guidance regarding potential changes in phases. Check this webpage often for the latest information.
