Special Education Preschool is only available to students who are on an active IEP.  If your student is transferring in with an active IEP or wish to be evaluated for services, please contact our Special Education Preschool Coordinator Amy Danforth-Adamski at 406-751-4040.

Due to the passing of Montana House Bill 352 the KPS Early Kindergarten program will be transitioning to an Early Literacy Targeted Intervention Program.  KPS is currently developing this new program.

To enroll in our early kindergarten classes, your four year old must be screened in May. If your child’s four year old birthday falls before September 11th, 2024, they are eligible to be screened.  The screening will last 45 minutes.

 

 

Open enrollment for Kindergarten will start on April 1st.  Students that qualify for Kindergarten must be born on or before 9/10/2019.

Kindergarteners will not be pre-screened for the 2024-2025 school year.

Important Note on Elementary Enrollment for Students enrolling in the District:

KPS tries to place all students in their neighborhood zoned elementary school.  However, our schools do fill up fast.  Please enroll your student as soon as possible.  Students new to the district enrolled before June 1^st will have prioritization to get into their school.

Please Note: Your preferred school is your neighborhood school.  

• If you want to attend a different school, you will have to fill out a transfer form which will be accessible during Step 2 of the enrollment process.  
• K-5 Out of Neighborhood request can be found in your PowerSchool portal.
• Please note once you hit submit you will not be directed to another page.  The form will just clear the data.  If you received the submission success message, your form has been completed.

If you do not have access to a computer, you can visit the Enrollment Office which has recently moved back to the Central Administrative Building at 233 1st Ave E (above the public library) . Hours are Mon-Fri 8:00-4:30 pm.

Students entering First Grade must be 6 years old on or before September 10th.

HIGH SCHOOL In-District Student Transfer

Please review the instructions and complete the form in the High School In-District Transfer Request Packet. Per Policy 3142, requests for an in-district transfer must be made by the beginning of the previous semester.  Your guidance office or counselor can help you complete the form.

Submit the completed form by the posted deadlines to the Superintendent's Office of Kalispell Public Schools, 233 1st Ave E Kalispell, MT 59901.  If you have questions, please contact Sherry Hodges-Ward at the Superintendent's Office at 406-751-3400 Ext 3434.

Senate Bill 157 now allows homeschool and private school students to participate in public school activities at your neighborhood school district. Please contact the school activity office for more details.

To pay for fees you can sign on using your PowerSchool parent account.  If you don't have a parent account, please contact psadmin@sd5.k12.mt.us for assistance.  

If you are interested in participating in activities, please contact the school's Activities Director and set up a meeting.  

Fall Activities: meetings are typically late May or early August.

Winter Activities: meetings are typically early November.

Spring Activities: meetings are typically early March.

Once your student has been approved to attend the activity, you will need to enroll them into the school. The school's Activities Director will send you the link and steps on how to enroll.  Once enrolled you can create a PowerSchool Parent Account and will be able to pay for fees online.

Once you submit the enrollment form the school registrar will review it.  They must approve it prior to you being able to continue on to Step 2. This can take up to 48 hours depending on when your form was submitted.  During the summer hours our response times are varied.

This step is best done using a computer though you can complete forms in the PowerSchool app.  You will need to set up a PowerSchool parent account to finish the enrollment paperwork.
