PIR Certified Staff
KPS certified teaching staff are required to log 12 hours of flexible pupil instruction-related (PIR) professional development (prorated for contracts less than 1.0 FTE or partial school year).
PIR activities must:
- be pre-approved by the building administrator
- meet for a minimum of 2 hours at a time (exceptions include MT Teacher Learning Hub, edWeb, and conference breakout sessions)
- occur outside the contract day/year
- not be taken for college credit/lane changes,
- be unpaid by the sponsoring agency, and
- be reported to the district central office via email or district mail in a clear and timely manner upon completion of each event.
PIR Resources
- Create a PIR.Net Account - For new KPS staff who do not already have a PIR.Net account. If you transferred from another district in the Flathead Valley and already have an account, simply update your profile information with your KPS information. You should only have ONE account.
- Suggest a PIR Event ("Session") Instructions - Submit your proposed event for approval prior to the start date.
- Register for Events and Report PIR hours - Instructions
- Choose from any events in listed in PIR.Net. Some district sponsored events require that you register directly with the event sponsor prior to the event. Hours for these events will be awarded in PIR.Net after the event.
- Choose from online/self paced events at these sites : MT Teacher Learning Hub and edWeb. You will earn PIR hours for these activities under umbrella PIR events in PIR.Net called "MT Teacher Learning Hub" and "edWeb Learning".
