KPS Special Education and Services
The KPS mission is alive within the special services department! Teachers, related service professionals and paraeducators are providing diverse educational opportunities for all students, with a variety of abilities, in the least restrictive setting. Staff are hyper-focused on continuously improving outcomes for our students.
The Special Services Department is committed to actively engaging in team meetings, advocating for student-centered supports, while approaching all obstacles and challenges with a growth mindset. Our broad goals are to:
- Build genuine and long-lasting relationships with students, families and staff through ongoing, open dialogue and collaboration
-
Gather and analyze information related to departmental strengths, challenges and needs
-
Ensure that resources are being allocated equitably and in a transparent manner
-
Participate in Individual Education Plan (IEP) team meetings, with a focus on collaborative, data-based decision making
As always, and in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) of 2004, the Kalispell Public Schools is continuously participating in Child Find efforts to locate, evaluate, and identify all children from birth through 21 years of age with disabilities. We are here to answer any questions you may have related to the special education process.
