FAMILIES: Welcome to Kalispell Public Schools

Our goal is to provide a seamless registration process for your family and a safe, positive bus-riding experience for your student. Whether you are a returning family or registering for the first time, we are here to assist you!

How to Register for Bus Transportation

Transportation registration is completed exclusively online through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. This ensures accurate student data and allows you to sign all necessary district forms electronically in one place.

Step-by-Step Registration Instructions:

  1. Go to the Kalispell Public Schools home page at https://www.sd5.k12.mt.us
  2. At the bottom of the home page under Quick Links, choose PowerSchool.
  3. Use the Parent & Student Portal Log In link, or use the app.
  4. Select Forms from the menu on the left side of your screen.
  5. Select and complete Bus Registration, then click Submit, found at the bottom right-hand corner of the page.
  6. If you have multiple students, repeat this process for each child individually.

Need a PowerSchool Account? If you do not have a portal account yet, please follow the instructions under How to Create a New Parent Account, or email psadmin@sd5.k12.mt.us for assistance.

Key Registration Guidelines

  • Annual Submission: A Bus Registration Form must be submitted for every riding student at the start of each school year.
  • Address & School Changes: If your family has moved or your student is attending a new school, please submit your updated information immediately so we can adjust route assignments. For high school students, call the main office, and for elementary students, email judy.peiffer@sd5.k12.mt.us.
  • Canceling Service: If your student no longer needs bus transportation, please contact our department directly so we can free up seating for other riders.

Viewing Your Student’s Bus Stop & Schedule

Once your registration is submitted, log into PowerSchool and select Bus Info to view your child's assigned stop location and pick-up/drop-off times.

  • Standard Processing: Please allow 1 to 2 business days for route details to update.
  • Peak Season (August & September): Due to high volume and routes requiring stops farther than ½ mile from home, processing may take 1 to 2 weeks. We appreciate your patience during start-of-school setup.
