Federal Entitlement Programs

The Every Child Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA) reauthorized the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA). The ESEA provides federal aid to our nation’s schools. Visit the Montana OPI: ESEA Title Programs for information.

Description

Title I, Part A, Improving Basic Programs

 

 

  

 

Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) provides local educational agencies (LEAs, or school districts) with extra resources to help improve instruction in high-poverty schools and ensure that all children have the same opportunities to meet challenging State academic standards.

Intervention strategies supporting students vary from school to school. For information on strategies and programs at your child's school, please contact your building principal.

Title I, Part D, Neglected, Delinquent Youth

  

 

Title I, Part D provides funding for the purposes of improving the educational services to students, up to age 18, who are living in residential facilities for children or the juvenile justice system or are returning from placement in state or local correctional facilities.

Title II, Part A, Improving Teacher Quality

 

The purpose of Title II, Part A is to raise student achievement by improving the quality of teachers in the classroom. Any activity funded with ESEA funds must result in a measurable increase in student achievement.

Title III, Part A, Language Acquisition and Enhancement

 

 

The purpose of Title III, Part A is to help ensure that LEP (Limited English Proficient) students become proficient in English and attain state standards.

Title IV, Part A: Student Support & Academic Enrichment

Title IV Part A, also known as Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE), is part of the Every Student Succeeds Act reauthorization of the ESEA. The SSAE program is intended to improve students’ academic achievement by increasing the capacity of state educational agencies (SEAs), local educational agencies (LEAs), and local communities to provide all students with: access to a well-rounded education, improve school conditions for student learning, safe and healthy students, and effective use of technology to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students
