David Barr is a native Montanan and attended Montana State University receiving a Bachelor of Music in 1990. Mr. Barr earned a Master of Music Performance degree from Morehead State University, Kentucky and performed professionally in and around Lexington, Kentucky, while teaching private lessons and running several high school percussion ensembles. Mr. Barr returned to college in 1994 and received his teacher certification from the University of Kentucky in 1995 and began working as a band director with the Alice Independent Schools in Alice, TX. After teaching 9 years in Texas Mr. Barr returned to Montana in 2004 to teach in Kalispell and is the current director of bands for Glacier High School. Since the opening of Glacier High School in 2007, Mr. Barr has led the group to perform at the NAfME All-Northwest Conference, Disney Interactive Studio in Anaheim, CA, Gold Awards and Grand Champion at Heritage festivals in Seattle and San Francisco, Montana representative at the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington DC 2019, and 11 consecutive years of superior ratings at district music festival.
