Wrestler Expectations


  • Parents and wrestlers should review the Flathead High School “Athlete and Parent Handbook” at  http://www.sd5.k12.mt.us/domain/74
  • Required Forms can be found at the activities office; these include the following: Physical Form, Emergency Release Form, Consent / Release Form and Concussion Information Form.
  • All team members must be in good academic standing carrying five classes and passing all subjects for the spring and fall semester.
  • Manage your time, schoolwork will not slip.
  • Respect the bus and bus trips.  You must be on your best behavior on when traveling. Pick up after yourself.
  • Regular attendance, good citizenship, and good effort are expected of every team member.  If you miss practice unexcused you will not be competing that week in competition
  • Team members must attend all practices and matches unless excused by the Coaching Staff beforehand.
  • Being a positive role model in school and out is expected of every team member.  Stay out of trouble – Make good decisions!
  • No team member is allowed to practice or compete in matches if that student was not in school on that same day for the entire day of classes.
  • (The only exceptions to this rule are approved field trips and excused medical appointments.)
  • All team members are to abstain from smoking, chewing tobacco, drinking alcoholic beverages, and the use of any unauthorized drugs.
  • Athletes will be placed in matches according to ability of the individual, and the needs of the team will be given first consideration.  The coaching staff will make the final decision in this matter.
  • Athletes are responsible for the use, care, and return of all equipment issued to them.  The athlete must pay for any lost equipment.
  • You must make weight no less than 50% of the time that you will be wrestling at state. 
  • No Hazing. 
  • You must be at practice and ready to workout from 3:40 –5:45 pm.  If you are not working at practice—you will be sent home for the day.
  • The FHS varsity line-up will be determined by the coaching staff. However, wrestle-offs are a determining factor. You will need to announce to the team that you would like to wrestle-off for a Varsity Spot by the Beginning of Practice on Monday for wrestle-offs on Tuesday.  You will make weight Tuesday at Lunch +5 for the wrestle-off.  Wrestle-offs will be at the coach’s discretion.
