When to Keep your Child Home

 
Please keep your child home when the following symptoms are present:
 
  • A temperature of 100.4°F or higher within the past 24 hours
  • Vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
  • Strep infections, ringworm, conjunctivitis, or impetigo, as these are contagious infections and require at least 24 hours of appropriate medication before returning to school
  • Rash of unknown origin, which may indicate various conditions and should be evaluated by a healthcare provider
  • Significant pain, such as earaches, toothaches, or headaches, which should be assessed
  • Untreated lice infestation
Kalispell Public Schools follows the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) communicable disease guidelines and adheres to Board Policy 3417 (source: KPS Board Policy 3417 as published by the district). These state-level and district-level guidelines provide the criteria for school attendance when a student is ill and ensure consistent practices for protecting student health.
