Remote Learning Information

KPS ONLINE LEARNING GRADES 7-12Grades 7-12 Remote Education

Fully maximizing the highest quality in-person instruction will be our focus this year.

As a result, the stand-alone remote education platform that was in place last year (REC) will not be offered.

KPS does have limited remote options for vulnerable students.  Please speak with your child’s school counselor or building principal if you feel this is your best option.

KPS Online Learning Grades 7-12

Grades 7-12 Online Guidelines

  • All students requesting online instruction must do so as a reasonable accommodation. This includes a note from their medical provider.
  • Students will maintain enrollment in their home-based school.
  • Students must meet with their counselor to determine BYU courses that work towards their graduation plan.
  • Students are 100% BYU on-line or 100% on-campus.
  • Students can return to 100% on-campus learning at the start of semester 2 (Jan. 24) or for grades 7-8 trimester 2 (Dec. 2).
  • Students must have the means to access BYU courses remotely and complete work as assigned by BYU. This includes meeting course deadlines.
  • No on-campus teacher will be monitoring progress, teaching lessons, checking homework, or supervising testing. The BYU online option is 100% student-directed.
  • A student can sign-up for a maximum of four classes per semester unless needing to maintain MHSA eligibility of 6 classes.
  • Grades will be issued by BYU and all grades will be recorded on report cards and transcripts.
  • I.E.P. students will work with their case manager to determine online eligibility, appropriate accommodations, and academic schedule.
