KMS Announcements - Tuesday, June 2nd

Final Homework Packet Drop Off – Tuesday, June 2nd

The final packet drop off for the school year is week of Tuesday, June 2nd. This will be the final homework packet for the school year.  We are requesting that all homework be returned on Tuesday, June 2nd from 8 am to 1 pm.

Locker Update

Lockers that were not emptied by students over the past two weeks have now been emptied.  Custodians have started the summer cleaning process on lockers.  We have placed the contents of those “unclaimed” lockers in individual bags and labeled them by their locker number, these bags are located in the commons area.  Students / families can pick up their locker contents on Tuesday, June 2nd during packet drop off time of 8 am to 1 pm.  Please ask your student what their locker number was prior to pick up!

Chromebook/Textbook Return

All students who borrowed a school Chrome book during the closure must return those Chromebooks on either Wednesday, June  3rd or Thursday, June 4th.  We will be collecting Chromebooks at a table in the main loop entry in the front of the school from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Please return your Chromebook and power cord at the same time, please be sure that you get checked off with our staff member at the Chromebook check in table.  Please let us know if there are any issues with the Chromebook (scratches, missing keys, not working correctly, etc.)  Also, at this time we will be collecting any textbooks that students need to return.  Thanks for your help with this process.

Musical Instrument Return

We will be checking in band and orchestra instruments, music, and music folders in the music classrooms from 9-10 and 1-3:30 on Wednesday and Thursday, June 3 and 4.

8th Grade Reverse Parade

This year's 8th graders will not be able to fulfill the tradition of making their "final walk" through KMS on the last day of school.  In honor of our 8th graders surviving this, their last strange year of middle school, we would like to honor them with a reverse parade on Thursday, June 4th.  Teachers will be lined up along the main front loop sidewalk and back bus pick up loop.  Students with their drivers are welcomed and encouraged to enter the parade with the following directions:

  • Enter the KMS campus via Northwest Lane off Three Mile Drive.
  • Enter the front loop – drive the loop, exit the loop and turn right in front of the school.
  • Follow the one-way flow, exit Northwest Lane and take a right on Northern Lights Blvd.
  • Exit Northern Lights and take a right on Wedgewood Lane, head up the hill to our upper bus pick up area
  • Exit Wedgewood and take a right on the upper bus loop, proceed through the loop and exit the parade on to Meridian Drive or Parkway Drive.

There will also be an opportunity to turn in textbooks and chrome books during this celebration.

BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS

KMS would like to encourage family reading to end this school year strong and continue into the summer.  Not only do good reading skills benefit students in school, they are also a skill required for lifelong success. Reading develops vocabulary, increases attention span, and promotes stronger analytical thinking skills.  KMS would like to announce that we now have books that you can borrow from our Title I PARENT / STUDENT LIBRARY.   Books will be available for you to check out and take home during the Packet pick up times Monday May 18th from 8:00 - 1:00, Tuesday May 26th from 8:00 - 1:00, and June 3rd when we are asking for school materials to be returned.  The best part about this library is that it belongs to the families of KMS.  Please take books and keep them as long as you need them.  Return them when you are done and check out more.  And if you would like to donate books you can do so for others to enjoy.  THE MOST IMPORTANT PART IS TO ENJOY BOOKS AS A FAMILY!  Here is a visual reminder of how important reading is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FuZh5JJa94&feature=emb_logo

Library Books

If you have any Kalispell Middle School Library books around your house, please plan to bring them back to KMS on Wednesday June 3rd or Thursday June 4th. We will have boxes in the main loop of the front of the school from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. On June 3rd and 4th we will also have some carts of books that we are discarding from the library. Please plan to come look those over, they are free for the taking!

KMS Bullying Survey

In partnership with the University of Montana, Kalispell Middle School will be asking all students to participate in an anonymous and voluntary online survey about their thoughts, feelings, and experiences related to bullying. Participation is highly encouraged because it will help staff at Kalispell Middle School and researchers at the University of Montana better understand bullying in schools.  Also, the researchers are hosting a raffle for a $50 Amazon gift card, regardless of if you chose to allow your child to participate. So, keep an eye out for more information about their study coming soon!
