2019-20 School Year
Welcome to the 2019-20 school year. Our vision for Kalispell Public Schools remains to be the best place to live, learn, and work!
This summer marked the completion of the FHS remodel and new construction. What a grand addition this turned out to be and we are so grateful to our community for their support of this and the other construction projects across the district. Other High School projects still underway include the Agricultural Education Center new additions and remodeling of the existing space. When this project is completed in Spring of 2020, we will have added a new Veterinary Science building, welding facility, new secure entry with student meeting area and offices, green house, restrooms, classrooms, etc. At the same time Linderman Education Center has been and remains in full construction mode. The entire interior is being remodeled along with installation of new windows, boilers, and other exterior improvements. Everyone worked very hard to have the LEC ready to receive students for the start of the year.
After the opening of Rankin Elementary in August of 2018, our five existing elementary schools all received significant mechanical and facility improvements. All elementary schools now have secure entries which require visitors to check in before being allowed in the hallways and new gyms were added to Russell, Elrod, and Peterson. Flexible learning space/classroom was also added at each site.
KPS hired just over 40 new Teachers this year and 50 plus staff overall. Our enrollment continues to tick upward with the largest freshman class at Flathead High School, coming in at over 420 students, since Glacier High School opened its doors twelve years ago.
Student Achievement continues to improve across the District due to the hard work of our school staff and building administration. We are in the second year of using a new assessment tool called Aims Web. This software allows us to do beginning, middle, and end of year checks to ensure students are making adequate yearly progress. For those who are not, special interventions are provided. We continue to serve some of the top achieving students in the state and nation.
